

Ed Candland
Ed Candland earned his Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of Utah. While teaching in the Washington County School District he earned a Master of Music Education degree from Boston University. From Duquane University he received training in guitar studies. Ed and his wife Kirsten (a violinist who also teaches orchestra), founded the Zion Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2004.
With 27 years of experience in music education, Ed thoughtfully considers the needs of string musicians and their instruments when making decisions on hair selection, maintenance, and weight/balance.
Ed Candland trained under the watchful eye of Lynn Armour Hannings in New Hampshire at the UNH Violin Craftsmanship Institute in Durham, completing five summer workshops (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Current studies involve bow making.
